Kuwait is one of the more popular expatriate haunts of the Middle East; it is a small country that embraces the perfect combination of local culture and western lifestyle boasting a vibrant, varied and welcoming expatriate community, not to mention plenty of delicious sunshine, lovely beaches and warm waters. It is also offers a great saving potential. If you fancy something different, you are free for the next academic year and would love the chance to join a strong team of educators to work in a local school then contact your Teachanywhere recruiter today; this could be the opportunity for which you have been waiting.
A well established and reputable school group that own several schools in and around Kuwait City, Salmiya, Salwa and other areas, mainly within the early years sector, plus two primary schools, are seeking a selection of experienced early years educators with at least one year of teaching in the relevant sector for a September start. At this time recruitment is not specific for any one school; placement will depend on the application and the availability of a relevant position in a particular school.
Although the school is private offering an international curriculum in English it does serve mainly local children so this is not your typical western expatriate establishment; a background of teaching in an ESL environment would be beneficial and one must be able and prepared to differentiate delivery on an english language basis, as well as being sensitive towards the local culture. Please note that these schools do not offer an array of fancy facilities common to more affluent international schools so please do your research first to establish if this is the right fit for you. The early years units have been developed to provide a vibrant, colorful and spacious learning environment with great resources relevant to the age range. The children are also a delight in terms of enthusiasm and eagerness; reward balances challenge in this school.
Rotational teaching is a method of delivery that the school has adopted throughout its early years units and primary schools; this means that as an early years or primary educator you will be responsible for one subject for several groups within the same grade, almost like a subject secondary teacher. This method may not appeal to everyone so if you do pursue an application with this school please be aware of this; you will not be a general classroom teacher for all subjects.
Accommodation is free and of a high standard and is fully furnished with paid utilities. The salary is tax free with flights provided yearly. The monthly salary is 700kd Basic with 10kd for every year of experience, 25kd for a Bachelor of Education or Bachelors in the relevent teaching subject and 25kd for a Teaching Certificate. Contracts are 2 years with yearly flights provided and an end of contract bonus of approximately 1 month per year of service on top. This will suit single teachers and married teaching couples without dependent children and they are accepting applications from all nationalities as long as the qualifications and experience are relevant and the command of the english language is excellent.
After a rewarding day in school, if you have the energy, Kuwait offers a wide variety of amenities and activities for the evening and weekends and is a great vacation stepping stone to Africa and Asia for the school holidays. Try it for size; it just may fit. (1 , S , 57 , UK/IR/AU/NZ/SA)
