job description

Humanities (Geography and History) Teacher - Cairo, August 2020

Curriculum: IB / IGCSE / National Curriculum for England and Wales

Salary: £17,000 - £22,000 Tax Free

Experience: 3 Years

Sponsorship: Single

Contract: Two Year Renewable

3 years experienced Teachers are needed for an established English medium co-educational private British curriculum school located in an attractively developing area on the outskirts of Cairo. Offering excellent facilities, a reputable teaching environment, professional development, a cultural experience, academically motivated and well behaved students and strong leadership, this ticks all the boxes for teachers looking for an excellent opportunity in international education.

The school, a member of the European Council of Schools and the British Schools of the Middle east, enjoys an excellent reputation in the local and wider communities of Cairo with long waiting lists for all year groups. The student base is local and multi-cultural thus requiring teachers who are culturally astute and competent in differentiated delivery and comfortable in working in a multi-national learning environment.

The school is tastefully and impressively designed and enjoys a spacious and green campus teeming with state of the art facilities in and outside of the classroom. There is a large sports hall, football pitch, heated outdoor pool, running track, and impressive auditorium with orchestra pit, not to mention a dazzling array of specialised rooms for art, science, ICT and library.

An annual base salary of GBP17200 (plus GBP160 for each of experience until 5 years then GBP120 until 10) is offered and an employment package of accommodation (housing allowance for single occupancy), annual flights and medical insurance. Although this is a family friendly school only teaching couples with up to two children will receive full benefits; if only one parent is a teacher then benefits only extend to 50%. There are no visa restrictions on age which is a unique selling point for the school. Salaries may not appear competitive but with a very low cost of living and one of the most exciting historical, archaeological and diving adventures on your doorstop you would have to think twice about turning away from this unique opportunity.
