Lower Primary Teacher / Coordinator

This role may suit an aspiring leader, keen on taking on a middle management role. The Primary section consists of 4 teachers, 7 team teachers and 53 children.

Start Date: Augugst 2020
Location: Yogyakarta, Indonesia
Region: Far East and South East Asia
Curriculum: UK (aged 2-17)
Experience: 5 years
Salary: From 2000 - 2500USD per month (paid in IDR) + stipend for coordinator role
Sponsorship: Ideally single, tuition provided but salary not necessarily sufficient to support a large family.
Contract: 2 years

School Overview: This is a small and relatively young school which is growing upward. The cohort is a mix of expatriate, local expatriate and local children - 74 in total from ages 2-17. There are 8 expatriate and 10 local teachers. The school follows the UK curriculum whilst drawing on local/national culture where appropriate. The school is secular in its approach but does follow all national holidays which include Christian, Muslim and Buddhist celebrations. They are a community school with a supportive elected board (professional and parent), PTA and parent body. The school is not-for-profit and relies solely on school fees.

The school vision is to provide a vibrant learning community that draws on quality international and local resources to promote a positive approach to lifelong learning, encouraging children to embrace new experiences and develop their potential based on its core values.

Location Overview: The school is based in the north of the city. Many families who attend the school live in the south but are prepared to travel. The cost of living in Jogja is lower than other surrounding cities such as Jakarta, Surabaya and Semarang which is a reason it attracts a number of expatriates.


  • Fully qualified with at least 5 years of experience for visa purposes.
  • School is flexible on curriculum experience
  • Must be resilient to work in a more remote area of Indonesia
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, adaptable and flexible, enthusiastic, team player, able to use initiative, creative, good stamina, sense of humour.
  • Ideally able to offer an extra-curricular activity
