Beijing Bilingual School
This bilingual school in Beijing will open in 2026 with grades Pre-K through 9 and grow to become a Pre-K through Grade 12 school with a capacity of 2,300 students, and boarding facilities for 800 students. The school will be equipped with state-of-the-art spaces for learning, athletics, and performances. Facilities will include a theater, cafeteria, gymnasium, standard classrooms, laboratories, specialized classrooms for arts and music, a full-sized 400m running track, two black box theaters, a heated swimming pool, and a lecture hall.
The school will be located in Shunyi, a residential community northeast of the city center that is popular with international families and teachers. Here you will find parks, high-quality healthcare, modern malls, and a diverse range of international restaurants. Shunyi is well connected to the city center by Beijing's extensive metro system, making it easy to explore the capital or its outlying areas. You can spend a Saturday hiking a section of the Great Wall, losing yourself in the ancient hutong alleyways, or walking in the vast courtyards of the Forbidden City. When you want to go further afield, the Beijing airport is practically in your backyard.

Role

The Head of Upper School is responsible for leading and developing their division in academic excellence, coaching teachers, and ensuring all goals and network-wide metrics are met. You will spend time daily observing teachers in the classroom, providing feedback and coaching, and ensuring the professional growth and development of all faculty in the division. This includes facilitating opportunities for teachers to exchange information and ideas and ensuring a school climate with high morale and community.
You will also:

  • Implement network-wide regulations, guidelines, procedures and management systems
  • Oversee academic guidance, grading, and standards for student assessments
  • Work with the Director of Academic Programs, Head of School, and other Heads of Division on development of the master school schedule and calendar
  • Manage the division-wide ELL program to ensure that students live in an English-immersive experience on the school campus

Requirements

  • Educational Background: A Master's degree is preferable (with a strong academic background).
  • Leadership Experience: Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in similar roles, with a proven track record of driving educational excellence and leading teams effectively.
  • Instructional Excellence: A strong commitment to high standards in teaching, with experience leading or coaching educators to deliver exceptional instruction.
  • Global Perspective: Preference for candidates with international experience and the ability to work within a culturally diverse environment.
  • Collaborative Approach: Able to foster a supportive culture of coaching and professional growth within the SLT.
  • Classroom Experience: All SLT members are required to teach a class, so candidates should have recent classroom experience in a teaching capacity.
  • Administrative Expertise: Strong organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills are a must, along with a demonstrated ability to elevate educational outcomes.
