job description

Biology & Science Teacher

Start date: August 2024
Region: Far East and South East Asia
School Curriculum: UK
Minimum Experience: 2+ years
Package: Very competitive salaries offered

School Overview:

Teachanywhere is delighted to be the sole recruitment partners for Tanglin Trust School. Tanglin is a not-for-profit international day school in One-North, Singapore, offering an outstanding education for expatriate students. The school educates boys and girls aged 3-18 years across the sections: Infant, Junior, Senior and Sixth form, all based on one campus. Established in 1925 the school has grown steadily to become an 8 form entry school. It offers the English National Curriculum from Nursery and Early Years right through to iGCSE and offers a dual pathway where students can take either A-level or IBDP. The facilities are second to none within 5 hectares of a rural setting. They include four libraries, two large performance halls, science laboratories, vibrant canteens, state-of-the-art media technology suites, drama studios, and a sound-proof music suite plus two swimming pools, four gymnasia and a variety of pitches and courts for all sports.

Tanglin Trust School Singapore has a long tradition of providing British-based learning with an international perspective. The core values of Respect, Responsibility and Purpose are at the heart of everything they do across the school. The school sets high expectations whilst offering strong support, resulting in a community of lifelong learners who can contribute with confidence to our world. The co-curriculum programme is central to a student's education at Tanglin. All staff are expected to be involved with the leading and developing of co-curricular options, either in their subject or an area of interest.

The Role:

The successful candidate will be a strong team player in a large Science department with experience of collaborative planning and assessment at all levels. The ability to teach Biology at IB or A-level will be an advantage. Technology is widely used at all key stages and experience of using iPads, Surface devices and/or Microsoft OneNote as a learning platform, while not essential, would also be advantageous.

Location overview:

Singapore is very safe, clean and friendly (ideal for expats), a place where everyone speaks English, and close to other countries so it's inexpensive and easy to travel elsewhere. Plenty to see and do: dine out in the very reasonable hawker centres, Little India or Chinatown, visit the temples, explore the stunning marina and malls, visit the beautiful Gardens by the Bay, the National Gallery and Singapore zoo in your downtime.

Requirements:

  • Qualified teacher with a B.Ed, degree + PGCE or equivalent, with QTS
  • Minimum 2 years experience
  • Outstanding practitioners from either a state or independent school background
  • Knowledge of UK curriculum preferred but not essential
  • Dedication to co-curricular activities

  • Comprehensive International Health Insurance
  • 2 year contract
