About the CfBT Brunei Project

Teachanywhere is working in partnership with CfBT to recruit fully qualified Primary and Secondary English Teachers to work in tropical Brunei

CfBT is one of the top twenty charities in the UK and has been working with the Brunei Darussalam government for over 30 years in support of their bilingual education policy. Teachers working in Brunei are assigned to state schools to teach English and help mentor Bruneian teachers. The focus is to raise the proficiency and attainment levels of Bruneian students through high impact teaching and learning in classrooms, specialised national support and intervention programmes. The project is a directive from the Ministry of Education and as such you will be holding what is considered a very high level and important role, making a real difference in the lives of Bruneian children and their teachers. There are 200+ Primary and Secondary teachers on this programme with many teachers staying and settling in Brunei for a number of years.

What benefits are on offer?

Take home pay is B$3,500 – B$6000 per month, tax free (note: the Brunei dollar is pegged to the Singapore dollar). Food, petrol, eating out and utility bills are generally much less expensive in Brunei than in countries such as the UK. With no rent to pay, annual flight allowances, and cheap recreational activities in Brunei and neighbouring Malaysia, most teachers find that they are able to save a significant percentage of their salary.

CfBT Requirements

We would love to hear from you if you meet the following criteria:

  • A degree from a university in the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, US, or South Africa, and have completed basic and tertiary education in one of these countries
  • Qualified teacher status in the form of a B.Ed /Dip Ed/ Dip Teaching/PGCE
