THE SCHOOL

This is a family-orientated international school in Singapore for students aged 2 to 18, offering a rigorous and well-rounded education comprising all four International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes that stretches beyond traditional academic subjects to embrace the arts, music, drama, design, innovative technologies and sport. In addition to the MYP, middle school students can opt to sit IGCSE exams.

THE ROLE

The school is looking for a dynamic and passionate, Assistant Principal for the Secondary Years Division, who will be aligned with the school-wide mission, vision and philosophy. The successful incumbent will work in close collaboration with other members of the Secondary Years (G6-12) Leadership Team and oversee day-to-day operations of the Secondary Years, including but not limited to, raising academic standards, curriculum development, timetable and pastoral care for Secondary Years students and staff.

Main Responsibilities

  • Drive and support both divisional and school-wide strategic planning.
  • Facilitate and contribute to discussions and decision making as part of the pedagogical leadership team.
  • Facilitate shared responsibility for the effective functioning of the grade level teams and departments.
  • Assists team in the development of learning targets for students.
  • Contributes positively to team building.
  • Models appropriate dress, demeanour, and actively contributes positive work ethics as defined by school standards.
  • Models and encourages a culture of kindness in support of the core values.
  • Reports to the school two days prior to the arrival of returning teachers to assist new staff, plan curriculum, and help organise in-service.

  • To provide academic curriculum leadership in the Secondary Years - ensuring a written curriculum is implemented and reviewed annually
  • To liaise with the key stakeholders responsible for implementing the program
  • To work with Secondary Years leadership and Middle Leaders to analyse and assess results to improve the program

Professional Development

  • To evaluate the professional performance of staff, in particular, Curriculum Coordinators and Middle Leaders (Heads of Department)
  • To promote continuing professional development of faculty and staff in accordance with their personal, professional and school goals
  • To professionally self-evaluate and reflect soliciting feedback from key stakeholders

REQUIREMENTS

  • Master's degree/Bachelor's Degree in Educational Administration, Educational Leadership, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a secondary school, preferably in an international school setting
  • Minimum 2 years experience as an Assistant Principal and/or similar leadership role is desirable
  • Demonstrates positive influence and highly effective communication skills

SALARY AND BENEFITS PACKAGE

  • Competitive Salary: teaching salaries are between SGD $6,000 to $7,606 per month before tax, plus stipend for any leadership roles
  • Housing Allowance: Between SGD $2,400 to $3,200 per month before tax (based on family status)
  • Global Health Insurance for Teacher and up to 2 eligible Dependents (spouse/children)
  • Flight Allowance (relocation flight before contract starts and repatriation flight after contract complete, subject to claimable limit as per school policy)
  • Shipping allowance -between SGD $ 2,400 to $4,800 (based on family status)
