Dehong Shanghai International Chinese School is a Chinese owned School offering a 12- year education to Chinese nationals. It is located in the Qizhong villa area of Maqiao, Minhang District, Shanghai, and opened its doors on 1 September 2017. Dehong Shanghai is the 1st Dehong school in the family and has over 500 Chinese students.

The school opened in 2017 and offers a top quality education for students from Grade 1 up to Grade 12 (IBDP level), with a potential to accommodate up to 1200 students. The school takes a holistic approach to every child's learning and school experience, inspiring students to achieve their personal best. The curriculum is a collaborative framework which provides a well-balanced programme consisting of the Chinese compulsory curriculum (G1 - G9) and leading international educational concepts and methodologies. The purpose-built campus is a beautiful learning environment, with large, airy classrooms, science laboratories, a spacious library, and dedicated art rooms including a ceramics workshop, and STEAM facility. The campus has flexible indoor and outdoor learning spaces.
Role:
The Deputy Head works in close collaboration with the Head of Elementary in ensuring high quality learning and teaching throughout the school. The Deputy Head provides professional and dynamic leadership and effective management and values the importance of developing positive and caring relationships with students, parents and all school staff. He/she supports the school's inspiring, holistic vision of education and is responsible, with the school leadership team, for curriculum development, teaching and assessment practices, high academic achievement and the engagement and wellbeing of our students and staff. The Deputy understands the importance of the learning environment, both inside and outside school. As an outstanding teacher the Deputy Head believes strongly in action research and is committed to participating in and leading professional learning and the sharing of best practise in progressive elementary and bilingual education.
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years' experience in teaching inquiry-based learning (or PYP curriculum) within Elementary school
- Demonstrated success in a school leadership role
- A strong understanding of progressive pedagogy
- The successful candidate will be a highly committed team player who is keen to contribute to the development of this new and rapidly expanding and forward-looking school.
- Strong, clear communication and listening skills
- Applicants must be willing to play a full part in the school's pastoral care and extra-curricular programme.
