Head of Arts Department / IB PYP and MYP Music Teacher
Fiji | January 2026

The School

Established in 1992, this is an independent, coeducational, non-profit school for students aged 3-18 years. As an International Baccalaureate (IB) Continuum School, accredited IB Primary Years,Middle Years and Diploma programmes aim to develop students into resilient, empathetic and inquisitive individuals who think critically and creatively, with the courage and conviction to take positive action locally and globally. The school's diverse community of approximately 250 students and 37 teaching staff represents 25 different nationalities. As an open admissions school, they pride themselves on creating a nurturing, balanced and inclusive learning environment where each student is empowered to reach their full potential. Teachers work with classes ranging from 8-24 students in a supportive and collaborative environment where staff wellbeing, autonomy and professional growth are valued.

The school campus is located in Nadi, the tourism hub of the Fiji Islands. Although a small community, Nadi provides a range of opportunities for short island vacations along with activities like hiking, water sports and zip lining.

Qualifications & Experience

The school is seeking to appoint a committed, experienced and passionate Head of Arts Department / IB PYP and MYP Music Teacher to commence in January 2026.

The successful candidate will be required to teach music across the PYP and MYP programmes to students with a diverse range of interests and abilities. Key responsibilities will include overseeing curriculum development, mentoring staff, and fostering a collaborative learning environment. The candidate will also plan and deliver an engaging inquiry-based curriculum, assess student progress through various methods, and tailor instruction to meet individual needs. Additionally, the candidate will contribute to extracurricular activities and excursions to support a well-rounded education.

  • Bachelor's degree in Education specialising in Music or a Bachelor's degree in Music with postgraduate studies in Education.

  • At least three years of experience teaching IB PYP and/or MYP Music.

  • Completion of Category 2 or higher IB Professional Development workshops in Music - desirable

  • Working knowledge of Managebac, Seesaw Google Suite and Canva - desirable

  • Experience as an IB examiner, workshop leader, or in another role within the IB Educator Network (IBEN) - desirable

  • A strong understanding of and commitment to the philosophy and values of the IB organisation.

  • Deep understanding of and passion for the subject area being taught.

  • Proficiency in planning, delivering, and reflecting on an engaging inquiry-based curriculum that fosters student motivation and agency.

  • Skilled in integrating technology tools to enhance teaching and learning experiences.

  • Embraces student diversity and possesses the skills to differentiate instruction to address the individual needs of learners.

  • Demonstrates a kind and supportive approach towards students, creating a positive, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.

  • Willingness to collaborate and work effectively as part of a team, fostering a sense of community and shared responsibility in the educational setting.

  • Inspires a strong sense of trust and confidence among students, parents and colleagues through consistent support, encouragement, and reliability.

  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and navigate uncertainty with flexibility, resilience and a sense of humour.

  • Exceptional organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

  • A commitment to upholding ethical standards and promoting integrity within the school community.
