job description

Secondary Maths Teacher (to A-level)
Nanjing, China

Start Date: August 2024
School Curriculum: UK to IGCSE and A-level
Minimum Experience: 2+ years

The School

This international school offers a modern and vibrant education to boys and girls aged 2-18. Since opening in 2007, it has become the school of choice for expatriate families looking to provide their children with a private education of the highest standard. All students - from early years through to high school - follow the English National Curriculum and includes IGCSEs and A-levels. The curriculum is rich and varied and allows pupils to explore the breadth and depth of their abilities.

The school nurtures high aspirations for each and every one of the students. Many achieve great academic results and aim for places at the best universities around the world, while others discover a passion or special talent. The day-to-day focus is on helping pupils to thrive in their own unique way.

Part of a family of 56 premium international schools, based in 27 countries around the world, this school group offers personalised, inspiring learning to more than 50,000 students between 2 and 18 years old. The group is widely acknowledged as offering fantastic opportunities to innovate and develop best practice and to access extensive professional development

Living and Working in Nanjing

The school is on a modern campus which is located south of Nanjing city. It is a 30-minute drive from the centre (Xinjiekou) and sits nestled on a quiet residential street at the foot of Cuiping Mountain at the boundary of the Jiangjun National Park. Views from the campus overlook the outdoor sports and play areas and the forested mountains beyond. The school is in close proximity to prominent expatriate residential areas.

Nanjing is one of China's more attractive big cities and subtly different from the other urban areas of the Yangzi Delta. For one thing, it isn't a rapid-fire commercial city, and the relative lack of investment - compared with the other regional boom towns - means that Nanjing is calmer, quieter and better-preserved than its neighbours. Nanjing is a former capital and has a rich heritage, but it is also university town, home to some of China's top colleges, and it draws fewer tourists than the other cities. As a result, Nanjing is the most authentic and original large city in eastern China
